Thanks so much for this post. I have been trying to spin softer, thicker yarn for a while now, as from the beginning, my hands seemed to want to spin thin, laceweight yarns. But something about your post clicked something in my head, and this evening I managed to spin 52 yards of nice softly spun thick yarn!I am so pleased. I think it was fewer treadles per draft and pre-drafting. Previously I had tried drafting more fiber into the drafting triangle and pre=drafting, but I don't think I ever picked up on the slower treadle. I hope someday, I am able to offer wonderful tutorial posts like yours, I learn something every time I read your blog.

I'm glad that this helped out. I just feel so fortunate to have had an opportunity to take Rita's class and report on what we did. She's such a good teacher with years of spinning knowledge. It's too bad that she's not interested in writing a book.
